Mental attention plays
a pivotal role in the functioning of the human mind. Many people don’t know how
to think, because according to Albert Einstein, thinking is
difficult; that’s why so people do it. But thinking holds the key to human
happiness: we become who we are as a result of our thoughts; in other words, we
are the products of our thoughts.

Mental attention is
the capability of staying focused. In a way, many of us are suffering from
attention deficit syndrome: our minds cannot stay focused; it is forever
shifting back and forth between the past and the future.
Remember, the mind
always expresses its power as mental attention, which is acute awareness of the
mind and the body. Most of us do not pay much attention to the body—except when
we experience physical pain—let alone paying attention to the mind. But mental
attention is important to the art of living well because the mind and the body are interconnected.
Mental attention is essentially body consciousness or attention to the physical
conditions and the needs of the body in relation to how the
mind thinks.
The brain and the body
are interconnected. The body is created to support the mind. For example, your
thoughts affect your body sensations. If you are kissing someone you love, it
is more than a physical sensation: your mind becomes elated, and your soul
rejoices.
Therefore, to sharpen
your mind power, you must also enhance the awareness of your body first.
If you feel that your body, mind, and soul are not connected,
most probably there is lack of body awareness by the mind in the first place.
Learn how to align your body, mind, and soul, and live as if
everything is a miracle.
Don't let your mind drift. Learn how to concentrate and focus on the present moment. This is not easy, but can be done. First and foremost, stop texting while walking or driving to maintain and sustain a quiet mind.
